* 10% reduction in government grant, restriction on purchase of assets * KARACHI: Government grants by HEC have been reduced by 10% and restrictions on the purchase of assets have also been made. The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has formally reduced the government's annual non-development grant up to 10% in annual budget grants 2019/20 annually on the basis of extraordinary cuts and constraints on the budget by the Federal Finance Department. It has also imposed a full ban and has asked the state-level government universities to contact the relevant provincial governments this year to overcome their financial problems and provide financial support for non-development grant reductions.  Read the full news here
